The latest on T.S. Eliot, 22-year-old finder

T.S. Eliot in 1903The Arts of Innovation.com Web site has a new entry — “T.S. Eliot: finder” — with a tale of how 22-year-old conceptual innovator Eliot wrote America’s most frequently reprinted poem, “The Love Song J. Prufrock.”

Like many conceptual innovators in poetry, he drew inspiration from those who went before him:

“Without Baudelaire, Corbiere, Verlaine, Laforgue, Mallarme, Rimbaud–I should not have been able to write poetry at all,” he said.
